Examples of work by Kevin Ball
"I have had a chance to study the coding you created for me. Nothing short of class, brilliance, and elegance. My files look like they were created by a whole team of top programmers. Well done, sir!"
-Roger Liston, President of the ListonGroup
I have posted some of the work I have done, excluding all work done for corporate internal networks. I have created simple sites and fairly complex web applications and even stand alone applications. For a list of my abilities, please visit my resume.
If you would like to have me prepare a quote for creating a site or web application for you, please send an email to kevandcan@hotmail.com.
RecruiterZ was a site I spent a lot of time on graphically. We wanted to make it a marketing site vs. a fully dynamic/functional site. I think we succeeded and have a very good site for selling recruiting services.
LDS Phonics
LDS phonics came to me wanting an eCommerce site that automatically linked into PayPal's system so that purchases gave instant access to restricted areas. We made it work and it worked great for them!
Information Systems 590R Class Website
My last semester of my Master's program, I took a web consulting class...the oddity of this class was that there wasn't a website for it. So, myself and a group of friends built the best-ever class website and learned a new technology while doing it (Cold Fusion).
ListonGroup
Roger Liston, owner of the ListonGroup, approached me about creating a cutting-edge video emailer. With his creative ideas and my creative coding, we were able to develop a first-of-class DHTML and streaming video application.
This site was created to have a glowing effect and be the most professional looking glow products site on the Internet. After some research, I think we succeeded. The site uses ASP with a MS Access database. There is a management console for the owner where they change simple settings to automatically rewrite the site with even a spell checker to check spelling of input data! The menu on the left is done completely in DHTML and really helps the site.
This site was created on a very low budget, so we kept it simple. It has a great Flash™ animation on the opening page that draws the user's attention to the store's name. This site has already generated patients for this office!
This site is the result of a web competition. It is for a scrapbooking company so we wanted it to look like a scrap book page. It won an award and is a great example of what you can do with client-side script only.
A friend of mine needed a website, so I did one for her. She owns a small family business teaching swimming. I gave the site a pool motif and when your cursor moves over the tag line at the top, it looks like water is moving. This is a really fun site.
My home site sniffs for the browser, and if you are using IE, it directs you to a site that maximizes IE's capabilities. Otherwise, it sends you to some other compatible pages. Again, this is all done with client-side scripting and DHTML. There is a guest map, counter, incredible menu, scrolling news, and much more. Check it out.
This was a site I made for an online learning center. It uses subtle shadows and a nice drop-down menu for a very strong consistent theme-based site.
I created this very simple site for my Dad who writes health articles for his company. It shows how you can sort a table dynamically with just client-side code. It also has a search engine for the health articles so you can quickly find what you need. Again, simple, but effective.
Law Without Borders
This site was created for a club at the J. Reuben Clark Law School. It has a great Flash clip on the home page and uses some different styling to catch the user's eyes. Check this site out.
Center for Global Assignments
A professor at BYU asked for some updating to an online site so I did this in about 2 hours. The changes were simple and helped the format for finding out what the products are and how best to sell.
I wrote 2 stand alone applications for GRE review. You can download them by clicking on the link above. They were written 100% in dotNET as I wanted to learn the newer platform. These programs truly are great ways to study for the GRE.
